Thanksgiving Decorations

Unknown // Thursday 17 October 2013

As a Brit I am fascinated by the American Thanksgiving tradition and it's origins in English thanksgiving services, which were introduced after the English church broke with Rome in 1536.

Unfortunately, the thanksgiving tradition was lost in England after our civil war and although, we celebrate harvest festival in the UK it is very low key and really only marked in schools.

Which is a great pity as it means we don't get to mark the final end of the harvest and all autumn's abundance with beautiful fall inspired thanksgiving decorations.

But inspired by all the beautiful Thanksgiving decorations I have seen, I might ... once Halloween's out of the way ...  introduce my own thanksgiving decoration tradition right here in London :-)

I have included in this post just a few of the beautiful Thanksgiving decorations that have caught my eye at my Empty Your Archive party ...

...  I'm so loving all the burlap and those pumpkins, leaves, cones and the beauty of the simplest of dried twig and dried flower arrangements!

What about you?

How do you decorate for Thanksgiving?

Do share your ideas ... old & new ... at the bottom of this post ...

... and to get really into the Thanksgiving spirit head on on over to Empty Your Archive where we are linking up brilliant recipes for every single part of the Thanksgiving dinner ....
