Maybe it's just me, but  I am overcome with mild panic attack every time we go to the library.

Darling child creates large piles of books that are way too old, way too young, we've read 100 times before or just look unbelievably downright dreadful whilst I surreptitiously rummage through for inspiration but can't remember a single author to look for.  Donaldson? Dodd? ... errr?

So from our own favourites, recommendations from others and rooting through reviews and award winners I've come up with a list of 50 authors of great books for under 5s.  And what's more it's sorted by A to Z for easy library rummaging - how about that for organisation?

There's a summary list below but you can also down, edit and print this extended A to Z list of great authors for under 5s.
