Hmmm .... adding link backs in comments is a sensitive subject.
There are certainly times when it's a valid and useful thing to do - e.g. to tell someone you've featured them in a post, to invite them to a link party, to suggest a post on your own or another blog that might be of help - but you've always got to be very careful that it doesn't become spam.
If you are going to do include back links - it's much better for the recipient and for you if the link back looks neat and if it can be directly clicked.
Unfortunately, if you just paste a URL into a comment, it can't on many blogs be directly clicked on - the reader has to copy and paste it into a browser. But on most blogs, if you put a text link into the comment it will be displayed as a neat clickable link.
You can see the difference in the two examples below:
So how do you add text links to comments? Simple.
The back link for my play dough round-up is as below - the URL you want to link to is in pink, the text you want to appear is in blue and the other essential bits of code are in yellow.
Great post - I have featured it in my <a href="http://mumsmakelists.blogspot.co.uk/2013/05/50-play-dough-ideas.html"/>play dough round-up</a> - Alice x;
Very simple. But a few words of warning.
A small number of blogs won't convert html tags - the one's to watch for are those with Google+ comments switched on or those that explicitly say they don't accept HTML tags. In these cases you just have to paste the URL in as normal, although Google+ will convert this into a clickable link.
