So the baby is on its way, your life is about to change forever and you find yourself:
a) maxing out the credit card with anything that takes your fancy;
b) having a complete melt down in the local baby store because you've no idea what all this stuff is; c) burying your head in the sand pretending it's not happening;
d) serenely and sedately making your way through catalogues and sites and compiling a list of exactly what you need and want within a clearly defined budget.

Anyway answering D can stop reading now!

But if you're channelling A to C or some fabulous combination of all three, this new baby shopping list will give you a comprehensive view of everything you will need for your newborn plus some things that it's tricky to manage without and a few extra nice to haves that are in absolutely no way essential.

The shopping list also includes a rough price range for each item and a grand total so you can start to work out that very lovely as it is you really, really can't afford a top of the range new Bugaboo!

Obviously, you can get lots and lots of stuff second hand - which as far as baby stuff is concerned usually means nearly new - on eBay, through ante-natal group e.g. NCT sales and through dedicated local sites and shops.  I reckon you can expect to pay 25% - 50% of the new price for things in good condition and it is definitely worth thinking about for things you won't use for long e.g. moses basket, baby carrier even if you buy the long lasting stuff new.

As ever with the lists on this blog, you can download the new baby shopping list and edit it and even copy it  into excel so you can add your own notes, prices, status etc.  Alternatively, you can just print it out, waft it in front of your partner and say go get!

Do come and tell me what you thought of the list and talk new baby stuff at Facebook and Twitter and check out the new baby board on Pinterest
