Brilliant Baking Bloggers

Unknown // Tuesday 14 May 2013

I grew up learning to bake from my mum's Be-Ro Home Recipes - a slender volume still going strong 70 odd years after first printed.

And if Be-Ro failed us there was always my Gran's fabulously named Radiation Cookbook.

Eventually, my mum added another classic - The Good Housekeeping Cookbook - to her repertoire, but we basically made lots of traditional English cakes. Meringues was about as fancy as we got.

With food trends working the way they do, by the time I bought my own first baking books - Delia Smith, Nigel Slater and Nigella Lawson's How to Be A Domestic Goddess - all those childhood faves were back in fashion.

The Alchemist
What I love about the blogosphere is the awesome range of baking ideas out there - yes there are trends, yes there are fashions, but above all there are independent voices baking and blogging what they love best.

I love the devotees - like Something Sweet and The Alchemist - who are completely committed to their craft ...

... the vintage fans recreating past glories like Yesterfood ...

... big blogs - like the Six Sisters - with hundreds and hundreds of recipes and those with just a few - like Twigg Studios - but everyone a gem ...

... multi-talented ladies - like Cup Cakes and Crinolines and A Handful of Everything - who post on all sorts of things but manage somehow to fit in an awful lot of brilliant baking ...

Twigg Studios
... women after my own heart - like Spatulas on Parade - who who just love their puddings ...

... Brits, like Baking Aitch and Bangers and Mash (who does it on a budget), Australians like Domesblissity and South Africans like With A Blast ...

... the non-purists - like Memories by the Mile - who aren't afraid to reach for a packet to help them create something stunning ..

Domesblissity
... the health conscious - like Stealthy Mom - who manage to stay healthy without sacrificing scrumptiousness ...

... those baking with children like Five Little Chefs ...

... and those - like Oh Mrs Tucker - who make me laugh whilst baking up a storm!

This list really is just a few of the brilliant bloggers who bake, who I am loving at the moment ... I would love to hear about your faves, do add them - including yourself! - to the list below ... I can't wait to discover your triumphs ...
